What You Need to Know Before Starting Your Application

We highly suggest starting early, as the application process can be time-consuming.

Requirements

THE SMSF APPRENTICESHIP SCHOLARSHIP is open to high school seniors and individuals pursuing careers in the construction industry through apprenticeships and trade schools. The Apprenticeship Scholarship is not open to individuals that are journeymen status.

THE SMSF UNDERGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP is open to high school seniors and college students with at least one full year left in undergraduate programs. The Undergraduate Scholarship is not open to individuals enrolling or enrolled in graduate or masters programs.

FAQs

Does my application need to be mailed?

No. Applications will be completed through an online portal. Once the application is live, you will be able to login into your personal account to complete the required sections.

Do I have to upload official transcripts?

Transcripts are required for a complete application, and you are expected to upload a copy of them to your application.

Official transcripts will be requested when you receive the scholarship.

Does my application need to be completed in one sitting?

No. You will have a unique login portal where you can complete your application at your own pace.

We suggest starting early to give yourself time to complete each section.

Can I apply if I want to be in a trade school or union, but I am not a member yet?

Yes, you can apply if you are actively pursuing an apprenticeship in either one (i.e., if you are working for a union contractor but have not yet been accepted into the union or if you are a high school senior with an apprenticeship to start upon graduation).
